It’s the weekend and there is plenty of great new content to enjoy on Disney+ and Hulu this week, including many new originals and much more.

Here are a few of my suggestions of what to watch on Disney+ and Hulu this weekend:

Percy Jackson And The Olympians

Without doubt, right now, the biggest new show being released on Disney+ is “Percy Jackson And The Olympians”, which is currently being released weekly. With the show now halfway through the first season, things are really starting to get exciting and I can’t wait each Wednesday for a new episode.

The show follows Percy Jackson on a dangerous quest. Outrunning monsters and outwitting gods, he must journey across America to return Zeus’ master bolt and stop an all-out war. After losing his mother, Percy is sheltered at Camp Half-Blood, a sanctuary for demigod children. He must prove himself and confront his origins once he discovers he too is a demigod, and will take off into the perils of pursuing enemies in search of the Underworld. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth and Grover, Percy’s journey will lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, if he’ll ever see his mother again, and if he can ever find out who he’s destined to be.

I’ve been really enjoying this series and would easily recommend it to every Disney+ subscriber.

X-Men

This past weekend, Disney re-released the first “X-Men” film back onto Disney+ (it’s already available on Disney+ internationally) and it introduces us to the “X-Men, a group of hero mutants, who have to team up with Wolverine to stop Magneto, who has kidnapped Marie, a young mutant, with the intention of using her powers to destroy humanity.

“X-Men” is one of my favourite origin superhero movies and with “Deadpool 3” coming out in cinemas this summer, it’s a perfect time to see the debut of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Ishura

This week, the first episode of a brand new Japanese anime series, “Ishura” was released on Disney’s streaming platforms including Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the US and on Disney+ around the world, with a new episode being released each week.

The series tells the story of what happens one day, when numerous golems appear in the city, putting an end to Yuno the Distant Talon and Lucelles’ peaceful lives. Just as Yuno braces for death, a fearless swordsman who goes by the name of Soujirou Yagyuu appears. Each with a unique purpose, Yuno and Soujirou decide to head to Aureatia.

This show is on my personal watchlist to check out over the weekend, since it’s something completely new and refreshing to try out.

Dragons of Wonderhatch

Another Japanese original currently being released weekly on Disney+ is “Dragons of Wonderhatch”, which is set in Upananta, which is a fantastical world of floating islands and dragonriders. This beautiful world is on the brink of destruction. Islands are dropping out of the sky, and the evil Jairo is unstoppable. Only the great hero, Aktha, can save the world. The rookie dragonrider Thaim vows to find him, following the hero’s sudden disappearance from the battlefield. Thaim’s search takes him to another world: a place where flying dragons and adventure only exist in high school student Nagi’s dreams. This new series is currently on my watchlist of shows to watch this weekend as I like the appeal of mixing anime and live-action together.
