It’s Christmas!!!!  And with a long weekend, you might want some suggestions on what to watch on Disney+ this weekend, so I’ve picked out some great new content that’s available on Disney+, including some all-new originals and much more.

Here’s the rundown:

Marvel’s What If? – Season 2

Marvel Studios’ first-ever animated series, “What If?” is back for a second season and rather than going for a weekly drip of new episodes, Disney is giving us Marvel fans a new episode being released daily from Friday 22nd December for nine days, making the show the big new Christmas release.

The second season continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments.

If you love the MCU, give this show a go. It is animated, so I know lots of Marvel fans will instantly write it off, but what makes this series so interesting is that each episode is its own individual story, set in a different multiverse where something different happened.  The comic book series has been one of my favourites for decades, because I like just dipping in for a single story and then popping back out again.  I recommend giving this show a go, since this is something I will be watching throughout the holiday weekend!

Doctor Who Holiday Special: The Church on Ruby Road

This Christmas Day, Ncuti Gatwa, takes over the TARDIS for his first epic adventure, where he will be joined by a brand new companion called, Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.  I’ve been a huge “Doctor Who” fan for decades, and every Christmas, if there is a new special, it’s always on my watchlist, and this year will be no different.  With a brand new Doctor, it’s a perfect time for anyone new to join in. Give the show a whirl, as everything will be explained as if you’ve never watched it.  I can’t wait for this on Christmas Day!

This episode will be released at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET on Disney+ around the world and on the BBC in the UK and Ireland.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

This past week, Disney released the first two episodes of a brand new live-action series, “Percy Jackson And The Olympians”, which is based on a popular book series and tells the story of Percy Jackson, who discovered that he is a demigod and is in mortal danger, leading to him heading to a special school for demigods, where he learns the truth about who and his family is.

I’ve never read the books, nor watched the two films that 20th Century Fox made over a decade ago.  So I came into this series completely fresh and with no expectations.  I was extremely impressed with the first two episodes and can’t wait to see where the show goes.  This does truly feel like this could be the next break out show for Disney+ and one not to skip.

Dragons Of Wonderhatch

So, this last recommendation is something I’ve been interested in watching for a while, and the first episode was released this past Wednesday.   The series comes from Japan and features anime, mixed with live-action.  While I generally wait for dubbed versions of international originals to come out (I’m currently also enjoying the Korean original series, “Moving”), with a little extra time available, this show is on my own personal watchlist for the weekend, to give me something completely different to watch.

Born in our “real world” with sound-colour synesthesia – a unique ability that allows her to see colours when she hears certain sounds – Nagi has spent her entire life feeling like she doesn’t belong. Dreaming of one day being able to fly, Nagi will soon come face to face with Thaim, another misfit from a different world. Born in Upananta, Thaim has long been treated like an outcast for his inability to hear the voices of the dragons that inhabit his land.

With the floating islands of Upananta slowly beginning to fall from the sky, the two misfits will set off on an epic adventure spanning both live-action and animated worlds in “Dragons of Wonderhatch.”
