A new series based on Marvel’s New Warriors, doesn’t look to be coming to our screens anytime soon as according to the GWW, all of Disney’s networks including Disney+ have passed on creating the series.
The “New Warriors” are a team of young superheroes including Squirrel Girl, Mr. Immortal, and Cannonball.
The “Superhero sitcom” series was originally ordered by Disney’s Freeform back in 2017, but they decided that it wasn’t right for the network, leaving Marvel Television to step in to see if they could salvage the project. With neither Disney+ or Hulu, interested in taking on the series.
A pilot for the series was filmed and apparently the high-level executives loved the pilot, which starred Milana Vanytrub, Derek Theler, Jeremy Tandy, Callum Worthy, Matthew Moy, Kate Comer, & Keith David.
With Disney+ set to include new series by the Marvel Studios team such as Hawkeye, Loki, WandaVision, Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, MoonKnight and the Falcon & The Winter Soldier, it looks like the Disney+ team felt they have a big enough line up for now.
Hulu also has new Marvel shows in production including Ghost Rider, Helstrom and the Offenders, plus they have the third season of the Runaways coming up later this year.
Obviously it is possible that the characters could come to our screens in another project, later down the line but this particular version from Kevin Biegel looks to finally be laid to rest.
What do you think of Disney+ passing on this Marvel project?
