Now that we are in the month of October, it’s also time for the spooky season. Let’s take a look at some of the best spooky and scary TV series to get you in the Halloween spirit that are available on Disney+.

GOOSEBUMPS

A group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

THIS SERIES HITS DISNEY+ FRIDAY OCTOBER 13, 2023

JUST BEYOND

Inspired by the writings of R. L. Stine, this anthology series tells astonishing and thought-provoking stories of a reality just beyond the one we know.

R. L. Stine may be most famous for writing the “Goosebumps” books, but this series gives viewers another look into his creative mind of making spooky stories for kids.

THE GHOST AND MOLLY MCGEE

A grumpy ghost named Scratch is eternally cursed to be in the presence of polar opposite Molly McGee, a cheerful tween.

This popular Disney Channel series is great for the kids who want some ghostly fun this Halloween.

THE OWL HOUSE

Accidentally sent to the world of the Boiling Isles before a trip to summer camp, a teenage human named Luz longs to become a witch, with the rebellious Eda and pint-sized demon King at her aid.

This is one of Disney’s more recent adventures into a kid’s series that works for Halloween. Released during the 2010s, it’s one of Disney Channel’s more popular series.

THE SECRETS OF SULPHUR SPRINGS

A boy and his family moving into a supposedly haunted hotel on the edge of a small town.

Three seasons of this show are available on Disney+. It was set to be a Disney+ Original Series before being shifted to Disney Channel. It’s got ghosts, poltergeists and time travel. It was a lot of fun without being too scary.

VAMPIRINA

“Vampirina” tells the story of a young vampire girl who faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania.

This Disney Jr. series about a young vampire girl was popular with girls in the 2010, especially my own niece. It introduces the vampire mythos without being scary, so it’s perfect for younger kids.

ONCE UPON A TIME

A young woman with a troubled past is drawn to a small town in Maine where fairy tales are to be believed.

The popular ABC series ran for seven season and features some of the classic fairy tale and popular Disney characters. It can be a lot fun for those who love fairy tales including Snow White and Cinderella.

THE WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE

The Russo family may be an ordinary family with an average restaurant, but behind close doors, all three children must compete to be the next family wizard.

This popular show ran on Disney Channel and starred a young Selena Gomez. It can be a lot of fun for people looking for a little witchcraft and wizardry.

EVERMOOR

A young girl and her blended family move to the small cottage town of Evermoor. All is well until sinister things start to happen, magic tapestries, an enchanted typewriter. Only a few of the strange things found in the town of Evermoor.

GRAVITY FALLS

Twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines spend the summer at their great-uncle’s tourist trap in the enigmatic Gravity Falls, Oregon.

Another Disney Channel series that garnered a wide audience during its time on the network. It can be a lot of fun and has a wider appeal than some of the other Disney Channel series that may connect to the Halloween theme.

GARGOYLES

A clan of heroic night creatures pledge to protect modern New York City as they did in Scotland one thousand years earlier.

This is one of the best animated shows from my youth. While it’s not technically a Halloween series, Gargoyles can definitely work for a holiday built around monsters, both good and bad.

TIERRA INCÓGNITA

After his parents mysteriously disappeared eight years ago, young Eric Dalaras embarks on a search for the truth and enters a frightening world. He and his sister Uma grew up with their maternal grandparents. Eric decides to leave his homeland to return to the place of his childhood, Cabo Qwert, where he wants to look for answers at the Tierra Incógnita horror amusement park, since this is where his parents were last seen. Together with his friends, his sister and his aunt, Eric must overcome his fears in order to solve the riddles that ultimately lead him to the answers to all his questions, which are hidden in a cosmos as unknown as it is dark.

PARALLELS

The lives of the four friends Bilal, Romane, Samuel and Victor are completely turned upside down when a mysterious event ensures that they are torn from their world and that each of them finds themselves in a different parallel world. Each of the four do everything possible to understand what exactly happened and look for a way to return to their original homeworld.

This is not a ranking, just a list of some of the fun series with spook themes available for Halloween on Disney+. Which one are you excited to check out for the first time? Which ones are yearly favorites?
