During Fox’s Animation Domination panel at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed by “Krapopolis” creator, Dan Harmon, that the show has recently been renewed for a fourth season by FOX.

The series is set in mythical Ancient Greece; the series centres on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess, is the benevolent king of Krapopolis and is trying to survive in a city that lives up to its name. Deliria is Tyrannis’ mother, the goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family — forged in patricide and infidelity — she’s known as the trashy one. Shlub, Tyrannis’ father, is oversexed and underemployed. He claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of the word, for his entire life. Stupendous is Tyrannis’ half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Hippocampus is Tyrannis’ half-brother, the offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.

As part of the panel, the show’s executive producers including Steve Levy and Alex Rubens also gave an update on the series, in addition to celebrating that Hannah Waddingham had recently been nominated for an Emmys in the outstanding character voice-over performance category, for playing a character called, Deliria.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, said in a statement regarding the renewal:

“For all our Krap-devotees, there was no better place to decree another season of Krapopolis than the annual San Diego Comic-Con fan fest and no one better to deliver the proclamation than our brilliant creator and executive producer, Dan Harmon. Dan and his team have created something special with this series, and now that Season Four is etched in stone, we’ll be keeping those once-in-a-millennia laughs rolling on Fox Animation Domination.

The series also features the voices of Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders) and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel).

The first season of “Krapopolis” is available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. The second season is set to premiere on FOX on Sunday, 29th September 2024 at 9:30 pm ET/PT, with new episodes available the day after on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

Roger’s Take: It’s not a huge surprise to see FOX renew “Krapopolis” for another season. The first season performed well in the ratings, and FOX is trying to build up its Animation Domination block of programming with shows it owns rather than being reliant on shows created by 20th Television like “Family Guy,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “The Simpsons.”
