Every month Disney+ adds new series and films to the service. It also adds new seasons of popular shows that are already on the service. Plus, with spooky season underway in October, there are some Halloween classics we at WODP are excited to rewatch. Let’s take a look at the Top 5 Films and Series, we’re excited to see each in October 2023.

JEREMY:

1. HAUNTED MANSION (2023)

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Walt Disney Pictures’ “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.

I love Halloween themed films, and I love the Haunted Mansion ride. I don’t love the 2003 “Haunted Mansion” film, however, so I hope this one is better.

2. MICKEY & FRIENDS TRICK OR TREATS

In this new Halloween stop-motion special, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy are trick-or-treating when Donald spies the spookiest mansion he’s ever seen and assumes it has the best treats. After he convinces his friends to risk a visit, the owner, Witch Hazel, casts a spell that turns them into their costumes. The special features new original music from Emmy Award-nominated songwriter Beau Black.

I love the sensational six, and I love Halloween specials. This is the perfect blend for me.

3. GOOSEBUMPS

Inspired by R.L. Stine’s worldwide bestselling book series, “Goosebumps” follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Goosebumps was one of my favorite series of books. I enjoyed the show when I was younger and hope younger generations get the same joy with this new series.

4. LOKI SEASON 2

Picking up immediately where Season 1 left off, during 2022’s D23 Expo star Tom Hiddleston teased that viewers will find Loki in a familiar, but strange, place. “Loki is back at the TVA, he’s had a very difficult confrontation with Sylvie, and Mobius and Hunter B-15 don’t know who he is.” Only time will tell what happens next.

Season one of “Loki” is considered the pinnacle of Marvel television shows on Disney+. While it wasn’t my favorite, I still enjoyed it and can’t wait to see a second season of any of the properties they’ve given us, so far.

5. CLASSIC DISNEY SHORTS

Disney is once again releasing six more classic Disney shorts for the company’s 100th anniversary. As the actual anniversary falls in October, I can’t wait to see the new shorts added to the collection.

MEGAN:

  1. Haunted Mansion (2023)
  2. Hocus Pocus
  3. Behind the Attraction: Haunted Mansion
  4. Haunted Mansion (2003)
  5. Skeleton Dance

Those are our picks. What are you excited to see on Disney+ in October?
