Sony Producer Teases New Spider-Man Miles Morales & Spider-Woman Films
Following the huge success of the recent “Spider-Man” films, featuring Tom Holland, plus the Spider-Verse films such as “Venom” and “Into The Spider-Verse”, there is lots of excitement about future projects. While we know that a third “Venom” film, along with “Kraven The Hunter” and “Madame Web” films set within the Sony Spider-Verse, are set to arrive on our screens, we don’t know too much more about upcoming films, starring Spider-Man!
During a premiere event in Los Angeles for the upcoming Marvel animated film, “Across The Spider-Verse”, which is coming to cinemas this Friday, Sony’s producer Amy Pascal revealed to Variety, that a Spider-Woman and live-action Miles Morales movie are currently in development at Sony.
“You’ll see all of it. It’s all happening.”
At the same event, producer Avi Arad also teased that a “Spider-Woman” movie is going to be coming “sooner than you expect,” adding:
“I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming,”
While all the attention at the event was on the new animated Spider-Man film, Amy Pascal also confirmed that a fourth “Spider-Man” film with Tom Holland and Zendaya was still in development, but with the writer’s strike has resulted in work on the project being paused.
“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
Sony’s Tom Rothman was also asked about the upcoming Marvel projects, but didn’t let anything out,
“If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”
It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to hear Sony is planning on creating new films featuring “Spider-Woman” and Miles Morales as Spider-Man, since these characters are easily much more known and will generate much more interest than a film about lesser-known villains like Kraven The Hunter or Morbius.
Bringing Miles Morales into the live-action films, would also potentially give Sony and Marvel an easier option, keeping Tom Holland’s version within the MCU, while also allowing Sony to have their own Spider-Man, disconnected from the larger MCU.
While we wait for more details on new Spider-Man films, the new animated film, “Across The Spider-Verse”, arrives in cinemas this Friday, and you can watch many of the Sony Marvel films right now on Disney+. Plus, the classic animated series with “Spider-Woman” is also available to watch on Disney+.
