Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola & Hunter Parrish Join Onyx Collective’s ‘The Other Black Girl’
Disney’s Onyx Collective is currently developing a new original series called, “The Other Black Girl”, which is based on a book of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris, and it has started filming in Atlanta today.
This new series follows Nella, an editorial assistant who is tired of being the only Black girl at her company. So when Hazel is hired, Nella is excited at first until her star begins to rise. Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.
According to Deadline, Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, and Hunter Parrish have joined the cast as series regulars.
Sinclair Daniel will be playing the role of Nella, a bookish horror fan who is inclined to be a people-pleaser at the start of the season. Sinclair has previously starred in “Insidious”, “One December Night”, and “The Boo Hag”.
Ashleigh Murray will play Hazel-May McCall, an unapologetically Black and Harlem-cool assistant. Ashleigh has previously starred in “Tom Swift” and “Riverdale.”
Brittany Adebumola is going to play, Malaika, an old lady at heart who is queer and constantly comparing notes on life goals. Brittany has previously starred in the CW series, “4400”.
And Hunter Parrish will play Owen, Nella’s family-oriented boyfriend of three years who works as a middle school principal. Hunter has previously starred in “This is Us”, “Quantico”, and “Weeds”.
The Onyx Collective is creating the series and will be executive produced by Rashida Jones, Tara Duncan, Adam Fishbach, Zakiya Dalila Harris, Danielle Henderson, and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
This new series will be released on Hulu in the United States, and we should expect to see it released as a Star Original internationally on Disney+ and on Star+ in Latin America.
