If you have been wanting to find out what happens next in Onyx Collective’s original drama series, “The Other Black Girl”, unfortunately, we will never get to find out, as according to THR, the show has been cancelled after one season and is the first scripted series to be cancelled by Disney’s Onyx Collective division.

Originally released in September 2023 as a Hulu Original in the United States and as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world, “The Other Black Girl” told the story of Nella, an editorial assistant, who was tired of being the only Black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel is hired. But as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.

The series starred Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young, Eric McCormack, and Garcelle Beauvais.

Based on Zakiya Dalila Harris’ best-selling novel, “The Other Black Girl” was executive produced by Rashida Jones, Adam Fishbach, Zakiya Dalila Harris, Jordan Reddout, Gus Hickey, Tara Duncan, and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey also serve as co-showrunners.

As with any other series cancelled by Disney lately, if you haven’t finished the series yet or had planned to watch it, I would suggest making sure you watch the show as soon as possible just in case it is removed from Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and Disney+ internationally. Shows cancelled after one season do have a tendency to get removed eventually to save money.

Roger’s POV:  It’s unfortunate that another original series has been cancelled after one season, but Disney, like most other studios, are now very ruthless in cutting any show that isn’t pulling in a big enough audience to justify the cost of making it.  Sadly, this was one of those shows that was delayed by a few months from arriving on Disney+ in the UK after its US release, which meant that I put it on the “I’ll watch it later” pile, never to actually get around to it!
