It’s been over two years since 20th Television revealed it was working on a new series adaptation of the fantasy book series, “A Court Of Thorns And Roses”, which tells the story of a huntress who agrees to travel to a magical realm with a faerie lord in return for her family’s safety, only to fall for him and ultimately fight for that love when an ancient curse threatens to destroy the faerie and human realms.

The new series is being created by Ron Moore, who has previously worked as the showrunner on “Outlander”, “Battlestar Galactica” and the upcoming Disney+ Original series “Swiss Family Robinson” and “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers”.     Recently, Ron Moore provided an update to TVLine on the upcoming series while promoting the new season of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind.

“It’s still in development.  We’ve written some scripts, and we’re just sort of waiting. I think the whole town is kind of waiting to see if we have actors before things really move forward, but it’s still in development.”

Back when the original series was announced, the author of “A Court Of Thorns And Roses”, Sarah J. Maas, took to Instagram to confirm the series was in development. However, that social media post has since been deleted.

While it might seem that it’s been a long time since the initial announcement, developing shows can take a long time, especially when the creators are working on other projects.  So it looks like the show still seems a way off from arriving on our screens, but it’ll be interesting if this project moves forward once the actor’s strike is resolved, since Disney has been drastically cutting back on how much general entertainment content it’s making.

“A Court Of Thorns And Roses” was greenlighted by Hulu in the United States, and since it’s a production of 20th Television, we should expect it to be released as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
