20th Television Developing “A Court Of Thorns And Roses” Series
20th Television has begun development on a new fantasy series based on the best-selling novels “A Court of Thorns and Roses”.
The project is being created by Ron Moore, who was the showrunner on “Outlander”, “Battlestar Galactica” and the upcoming Disney+ Original series “Swiss Family Robinson” and “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers”. He is writing the pilot and there is a significant penalty if it’s not greenlit to full series.
“A Court of Thorns and Roses blends epic romance, adventure, and political intrigue in a tale of a huntress who agrees to travel to a magical realm with a faerie lord in return for her family’s safety, only to fall for him and ultimately fight for that love when an ancient curse threatens to destroy the faerie and human realms.”
The series will be heading to Hulu in the United States and since it’s a production of 20th Television, it’ll then arrive on Disney+ internationally as a “Star Original”.
The book’s author Sarah J Maas confirmed the deal on Instagram:
“So, it’s official (and thank you, Josh, for accidentally spilling the beans! ): Ron Moore (creator of Outlander and one of my creative idols) and I will co-adapt ACOTAR as a tv show for Hulu! I’m currently hard at work writing the pilot with Ron (!!!!!), and while there is SO much more news to share with you guys about bringing this series to life, it just feels so great to finally be able to talk about this! Stay tuned for more details!!”
Following the success of “A Court of Thorns and Roses”, Sarah J Maan released four sequels “A Court of Mist and Fury,” “A Court of Wings and Ruin,” “A Court of Frost and Starlight” and “A Court of Silver Flames.” This will give the series plenty of room to expand should it be a success.
Ron Moore and Sarah J Maas will be co-writing and executive producing the potential series, with Maril Davis also executive producing.
