When Marvel Studios released “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, it went on to become one of the biggest box office successes of all time. Over a decade of movies had been building up to the moment when the Avengers would finally defeat the evil Thanos and save half of the universe.

But to bring everyone back, Tony Stark needed to sacrifice himself to do so, resulting in Robert Downey Jr stepping away from the role of Iron Man.    Many Marvel fans feel that ever since Captain America and Iron Man stepped aside as the franchise’s main event, the MCU lost part of its heart.

However, while we’ve not seen Iron Man on the big screen in almost five years, that doesn’t mean we might not see the character in the future, as recently, the actor was asked by Esquire in a new interview about the possibility of returning, to which he replied:

“Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”

Many might look at the ending of “Endgame” and feel it was perfect, so it shouldn’t be undone. But with the next big Avengers movies focusing on Kang and the Secret Wars, all of which involve the multiverse, the story could easily involve pulling in a different Tony Stark from another timeline, allowing them to bring Iron Man back or maybe even possibly recast the character.

While we’ve seen many actors play Superman, Batman and Spider-Man, we’ve not really got to that same level with any of the MCU characters. Still, the lure of bringing back one of the most popular characters will likely be very tempting to both Marvel and Disney.  Plus, with Robert taking some time out away from Marvel to focus on other projects like “Oppenheimer”, which resulted in him winning an Oscar, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see him return in “Secret Wars”.

But in the meantime, you can find all three of the “Iron Man” movies, along with the “Avengers” movies, on Disney+ now.
