Following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that they would soon be bringing the “X-Men” into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Since then, we’ve seen some slight hints of the X-Men in “The Marvels”, “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness”, “Ms Marvel”, and the upcoming movie, “Deadpool & Wolverine”, but no more details about a standalone project.

According to Deadline, development on the new X-Men movie is now starting to ramp up, as Michael Lesslie is in negotiations to write it. Michael has previously worked on “Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes”, “Assassins Creed” and “The Rescue”.

Marvel Studios has been going through a major restructuring over the past year, with many of its plans being reduced and existing projects being spread out over a longer period, as the boom of the Disney+ launch era has now ended.   This is why Marvel Studios has been taking its time in developing the new movie, since they’ve still got to wrap up the Multiverse Saga.

The search for a director is now underway to join the project, who will work with Michael Lesslie and Kevin Feige.

Roger’s Take: Fans have been excited about the future of the “X-Men” ever since it was revealed that Disney was going to buy 20th Century Fox, but with Marvel’s plans set so far in advance, it’ll be years until we really get to see their plans, as up until now, its been more about leaning in on the previous instalments like the 90s animated series and the Fox movies.  I’m kinda hoping that once the Multiverse saga is over, Disney can reboot the “X-Men” with a brand new cast and start over from scratch.

What do you think of Michael Lesslie writing the new “X-Men” movie?  Let me know on social media!
