Marvel’s “Vision Quest” Disney+ Series Finds Its New Showrunner
Ever since the finale of “WandaVision” was released on Disney+ in 2021, there have been reports that Marvel Studios was working on a follow-up series called “Vision Quest”.
Originally, “WandaVision” creator Jac Schaeffer was linked to the series, but she moved onto another spinoff, “Agatha All Along”, which arrives on Disney+ in September.
Variety has reported that Terry Matalas has been brought onto the project to be the new showrunner for the Disney+ series that will see Paul Bettany return as Vision. Terry has previously worked on the Amazon series, “Star Trek: Picard”.
In the finale of “WandaVision”, two different versions of Vision did battle, with Wanda’s version of Vision restoring the memories in the “Ghost” White version of Vision, resulting in the character flying off, before Wanda’s Vision faded away.
“Vision Quest” is a popular storyline from the West Coast Avengers comic book series, which will likely follow the new version of Vision, which will deal with the personal emotional fallout. It could link up with other established characters like Kate Bishop and Ms Marvel for the “Young Avengers” team-up movie or show.
It’s unlikely Disney will officially announce that “Vision Quest” will be in development until this year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event in August, but hopefully, more details on the show will be revealed soon.
Roger’s Take: This new series is currently scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in 2026, and with just two shows being released each year, it’ll probably go alongside “Wonder Man”, which has already finished filming. I do think a follow-up to Vision’s story is needed, since it’s been left wide open following the events of “WandaVision” and no doubt originally, we’d have seen the next step already, had we not had all the disruption from the pandemic, writers strikes and ultimately, Marvel scaling back its plans.
