Chris Evans and Keke Palmer, two of the main stars from Pixar’s Lightyear, will be attending the upcoming NASA Artemis I launch set to take place on Monday, August 29th, according to a NASA press release from August 19th. This is the first uncrewed mission flight test to expand human presence for travelling to the moon and even beyond.

With the main plot of the movie focusing on space travel, it is a fun opportunity for these Disney star veterans to get to be a part of a real launch – with real-life copying movie magic.

In the movie, Buzz and his gang of misfit junior space rangers have to figure out how to work together in order to accomplish their mission even when it seems impossible. Pixar animators even consulted actual NASA astronauts for the movie. In the behind-the-scenes documentary, Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear, discusses the process of working with NASA to create a realistic portrayal of a space mission.

Having the stars present at a live launch not only helps generate interest for the movie, which can now be streamed on Disney+, it helps promote space exploration in general. We highlighted a list of space-themed titles available on Disney+ here.

In addition to Lightyear, both Evans and Palmer have many other projects that can be seen on Disney+. Evans is well-known for his performance as Captain America (Steve Rogers) in both standalone and the Avengers films. Palmer has been in the 2007 Disney Channel Original Movie, Jump In! and has served as the host for the food-focused Disney+ original series, Foodtastic, where food artists are tasked with creating Disney-themed masterpieces. There is even a Toy-Story-themed episode in Season One.

Be sure to stay tuned for news on the launch, as well as watch Lightyear on Disney+ right now!
