FOX Renews “The Cleaning Lady” For A Fourth Season
Just ahead of FOX’s Upfront event for advertisers, it has been revealed that “The Cleaning Lady” has been renewed for a fourth season.
The series tells the story of what happens when whip-smart Cambodian doctor Thony De La Rosa comes to the United States for medical treatment to save her ailing son, she soon discovers her path won’t be as straightforward as she had hoped. As the system quickly fails her, pushing her into hiding, she resolves not to allow herself to be beaten down and marginalized, and becomes a cleaning lady for organized crime. Using her cunning and intelligence, Thony forges her own path in the criminal underworld, doing whatever she has to to survive.
According to Deadline, some changes will be made for the fourth season, including a new showrunner. After three seasons, Miranda Kwok and Jeannine Renshaw will step away as showrunners and executive producers. A new search is underway for a new showrunner.
The series stars Élodie Yung, Eva De Dominici, Kate Del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and Sebastien & Valentino LaSalle. Following the passing of one of the show’s stars, Adan Canto, due to cancer, the recent third season had to go through some adjustments.
The upcoming fourth season will also contain twelve episodes, and it’s not yet been announced when it will air. The season three finale is due to air on FOX on May 21st, 2024. Due to a multi-year deal between Disney and FOX, new episodes are available the following day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The latest season is also available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
“The Cleaning Lady” is based on the original Argentine series and produced by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment, which is why the show isn’t available on Disney+ internationally.
Roger’s POV: With the show still doing well in the ratings and, apparently, the show is in a good financial state for Warner Brothers Discovery, it makes sense why the show will return for a fourth season. With FOX also needing scripted drama for the next season, continuing with an established show that is working for themselves and audiences, it seems like a win-win.
