Disney+ is set to get a huge expansion of mature content in 17 countries when a new sixth brand called “Star” launches on Tuesday 23rd February.   One of the most popular series arriving for the “Star” launch in the UK, Ireland and Canada, is the 20th Television series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”.

The show ran from 1997 through to 2003 across 7 seasons, with a total of 144 episodes, all of which will be available on Disney+ via the new “Star” brand.

After moving to Sunnydale, California, Buffy Anne Summers just wants to be a normal teenager. Back in Los Angeles, her first Watcher had died; she inadvertently burned down the gymnasium at her old high school; and her parents got a divorce. The move to Sunnydale is supposed to give both her and her mother, Joyce, a clean slate. But then she meets the school librarian, Rupert Giles, and quickly learns there is no escaping her destiny. With Giles as her new Watcher, she reluctantly steps back into her role as the Slayer. But this time she is not fighting alone. She now has an inner circle of special friends– Willow, Xander, Cordelia, and a mysterious young man named Angel– ready to join the fight and drive in a stake or two if need be.

Buffy is played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and also stars Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Stewart Head, James Marsters and David Boreanaz.

It’s also been announced that all 5 seasons of the spin-off series “Angel” will be available on Disney+ in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. This series focuses on the vampire Angel, who is cursed with a soul. He moves to Los Angeles and aids people with supernatural-related problems while questing for his own redemption.

All 7 seasons are currently available in the United States on Amazon Prime and Hulu.  The series is also available on other platforms in the UK since the show is currently not under an exclusive streaming contract.
