One of the first original series released on Disney+ by Marvel Studios was “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”, which was a follow-up to the events of “Avengers: Endgame”, where an older Steve Rogers handed Sam Wilson the Captain America shield and mantle.

The series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier. The pair go on a global adventure that leads to Sam Wilson finally embracing his role as the new Captain America after taking on the US government’s failed version, who now goes by the name of US Agent.

Recently at Cinemacon, Anthony Mackie spoke about the upcoming Marvel movie, “Captain America: Brave New World”, which is coming to cinemas on February 14th 2025, and stars Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.

Very little is known about the upcoming movie. However, its very closely linked to the events of one of the first Marvel Studios films, “The Incredible Hulk, since it will see the return of Tim Blake Nelson as “The Leader” and Liv Tyler is also returning in the role of Ross’ daughter, Betty.

Anthony Mackie explained to EW that the upcoming movie “10 times bigger” than the “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Disney+ series and shouldn’t be looked at as simply a second season of the show.

“One of the biggest conversations we had from the beginning was for this not to be Falcon and the Winter Soldier — Part 2, for this to be its own movie with its own story, with its own characters”.

However, Anthony still acknowledged that the new movie would still be a two-hander and didn’t think it was necessary for viewers to see “The Incredible Hulk” to know what was going on. This film will no doubt set things up so anyone coming in fresh is going to have an idea of what’s going on, but without doubt, being completely up to date on everything within the MCU will help.  So it’s a good job that they are all available to stream on Disney+.

Anthony explained how this movie is very different from previous adventures and ultimately, is setting the stage for the film.

“This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. I think with these movies, you’re getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

And it does sound like the upcoming movie is going to be more similar to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, in terms of tone, as Anthony explained:

“a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s–t. Even though I’ve been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie.”
