Disney is getting ready to film the upcoming Latino-centric adaptation of the best-selling children’s book by Judith Viorst, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” for Disney+.

This new Disney+ film will follow a Mexican American family who have recently lost their connection to each other and their roots, as they embark on an epic road trip that immediately goes hilariously wrong.

Last year, it was revealed that Eva Longoria & George Lopez are going to be starring in the film, and filming is due to begin in New Mexico in March.

And the DisInsider, has revealed the plot synopsis for this new film:

“11 year old Alexander Garcia thinks he has the worst luck in the world, and when his family–dad Henry, mom Val, grandma Lidia and siblings Mia and David–head out for a road trip to the desert parks of California, he’s pretty sure that, statistically speaking, disaster waits around every corner. His feeling is only exacerbated when he learns to his shock that his great-grandfather, Alejandro Garcia, whom he was named after, was cursed, and burned down the very town of which he was the mayor, But though many of Alexander’s worst fears–and some he couldn’t even have imagined–come true on this trip, the Garcia family also learns valuable lessons about resilience, heritage and the simple joys of nature and family–which makes Alexander understand that maybe he’s not so cursed after all…”

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” will be directed by Marvin Lemus, who is the co-creator and showrunner of ‘Gentefied’.  The film’s script has been written by Matt Lopez, who has previously written “Father of the Bride” and “Clifford the Big Red Dog”.

It is going to be produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and The Jim Henson Company.   Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Lisa Henson originally produced the 2014 Disney film, and will be returning to produce the new version.  21 Laps’ Dan Cohen is also going to be a producer.  Emily Morris will executive produce, with Blanca Lista also overseeing for Henson.

No release window has yet been revealed on when the film will be released on Disney+.

And while we wait for the new version of this classic story to be released on Disney+, you can check out Disney’s other version, starring Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, on Disney+ now.
