ABC In Talks For New Marvel Shows
There has been a lot of focus on new Marvel shows coming to Disney+ in the future, with an impressive lineup of shows including WandaVision, Loki, Ms Marvel, MoonKnight, Hawkeye, What If, She-Hulk and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But ABC has been making shows with Marvel for years, including Agents of Shield, which is returning for its seventh and final season on ABC later this year.
Deadline recently spoke with ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke at this weeks Winter TCA Press Tour, about Marvel shows on ABC, saying
“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be.”
Marvel shows have been a big part of ABC over the past few years, however other titles such as “The Inhumans” and “Agent Carter”, never hit the same level as the movies, which the Disney+ shows are expected to reach.
ABC might want to have Marvel content on the channel, but right now, it looks like everything is being put into the Disney+ shows, with other projects such as “The Runaways”, “Cloak & Dagger”, “The Gifted”, “Ghost Rider” and others put on the back burner. With the Marvel TV division being folded into Marvel Studios, to make everything under one Marvel banner, unlike what’s been happening in the past.
And even if a Marvel show is made for ABC, its very likely to be available on Disney+ afterwards and it wouldn’t be a surprise if ABC gets to air some of the Disney+ shows at a later date.
