One of the many projects currently in development for Disney+ is a third “Sister Act”, which was initially announced at the Investor Day event in 2020.  The film will see Whoopi Goldberg return as Deloris, and it will be directed by Tim Federle, who is behind the “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”.  Tyler Perry will be a producer on the new film.

In the original film, which is available to stream on Disney+, a Reno singer witnesses a mob murder and the cops stash her in a nunnery to protect her from the mob’s hitmen. The mother superior does not trust her, and takes steps to limit her influence on the other nuns. Eventually, the singer rescues the failing choir and begins helping with community projects, which gets her an interview on TV—and identification by the mob.

During a recent appearance on Comedy Central’s “Hell of A Week”, Whoppi Goldberg revealed that she would like Lizzo, Keke Palmer, and Nicki Minaj to star in the Disney+ Original film.

“I want everybody. I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really, desperately need to have some fun.”

She also revealed that the script for the film is expected to be delivered by the end of the month.

Are you looking forward to the return of “Sister Act”?
