With the celebration of mothers this month, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite moms and mom figures on Disney+.

Our first pick is Mrs. Jumbo from both the animated original and live-action remake of Dumbo. This story stands out as it revolves around a mother’s love for her child no matter what he/she/they might look like and how deep that love goes despite the distance or separation that may be in their journey.

My next pick is Aunt Cass from Big Hero 6. While she is not Hiro’s mother, she takes on that role in his and Tadashi’s lives after their parents pass away. While she doesn’t always understand the scientific terms and technology that Hiro and his friends work with on a daily basis, she is his biggest cheerleader and there to offer support all of the time, like a mother.

Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast is another favorite. She is not only Chip’s mom, but she is the central motherly figure for both Beast and Belle as she takes care of them. In both the 1991 animated film and the 2017 remake, Mrs. Potts welcomes Belle to the castle along with the other characters, making sure she feels safe and helping her in those first few scary moments in a new place.

Our last choice is the mom, Laurel, from Onward. After the death of Barley and Ian’s father, she has to take on the role of being a single parent. Despite the movie focusing largely on brotherhood and the adventure between Barley and Ian, there are tender moments of Laurel’s love for both of her sons and how she sacrificed to raise the boys and foster their interests.

Other honorable mentions go to Wanda Maximoff from Wandavision, Nani from Lilo and Stitch, and Elizabeth James, the mom, from The Parent Trap.

Be sure to check out all of these and more now on Disney+!
