Now December is in full swing and the big day just a couple of weeks away, this is the perfect time to sit down and enjoy some classic Disney specials, while curled up on the sofa in front of the big TV.  But this year, its not as easy for Disney fans as the new streaming service, Disney+, isn’t yet running.

With Disney+ set to launch in late 2019, we will all be able to sit back and enjoy some “Christmas” treats from Disney.

So here is my list for the top 5 specials that should be on Disney+:

1) Prep & Landing

One of the more recent specials is Prep & Landing, which is a high quality animated single episode that tells an interesting story of how the Elves arrive at children’s houses to “Prep” them for Santa’s “Landing”.   I love how the Elves are shown as being the main force behind Christmas and how their super high tech makes Christmas happen.   And there are a two more specials, Operation: Secret Santa and Naughty & Nice.  I could have easily put all three of these on the list since I watch all three every year!

2) Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation

For fans of the this great animated series, this Christmas special sees Phineas and Ferb decorating their city for the arrival of Santa Claus. But when the evil mad scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz uses a machine to ruin the holiday, which of course means Phineas and Ferb must find a way to fix it and save Christmas.

3) Toy Story That Time Forgot

It’s easy to sit down to watch any of the Toy Story movies during the Christmas period, since they are classic family movies.  But if your after something a little shorter to fill that Toy Story itch, this short could be for you, as it has all the elements of Pixar that make their content so enjoyable.  During a post-Christmas playdate, the gang find themselves in uncharted territory when a set of action figures turn out to be delusional, which means it’s all up to Trixie, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie.

4) Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special

For younger Mickey Mouse fans, this Christmas Special offers a new modern look at the classic characters and for older fans, its interesting to see a different style of animation  and how a new generation is being introduced to the character.  It has plenty of comedy moments from Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, plus a feel good Christmas theme.

5) Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

This animated short sees all of the favourite characters from Frozen come together for Christmas as Olaf discovers what the villages Christmas traditions are.  It’s got some great songs and has the quality of a full movie release.   It’s easily one of my favourite Christmas Specials in recent years, plus its all about Olaf!

Yes we are long time Disney fans and park visitors! We have loved Disney Prep and Landing, both movies, since they came out! I would have certainly expected them to be on Disney+. It doesn’t make sense that they aren’t on the site, We saw the Christmas movie show at Hollywood Studios last year and they have characters from the movie in the nighttime show. It’s a new classic if that’s not redundant...lol I also agree that the other four Christmas movies listed should also be included. We were Phineas and Ferb lovers for years!
