Disney is currently developing a new Disney+ exclusive film featuring the classic American character, Tom Sawyer, who was created by Mark Twain and has appeared in many different movies and novels over the years.

According to the DisInsider, the film will be written by Max Maduka and will be produced by Lauren Abrahams.

There is only a brief description for this film at the moment:

The story is GOONIES in tone, each told from a different character’s vantage point with flashback stories to their experiences with Tom, who is missing.

Tom Sawyer has been a popular character within Disney, with appearances in the movies such as “The Adventures of Huck Finn” and “Tom & Huck”, both of which are available to stream on Disney+.  And the character has its own attraction called Tom Sawyer Island, which can be found in Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and in Tokyo Disneyland.

Very little is known about this movie yet and nothing has officially been announced by Disney as its still looks to be in the early stages of development.
