“The Punisher” To Appear In Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”
In “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, Charlie Cox made a cameo appearance in the film as Peter Parker’s lawyer, Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, and it looks like in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, another character from the Disney+ shows will be jumping onto the big screens.
Jon Bernthal is going to make an appearance in the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie as Frank Castle, aka “The Punisher”.
The character originally debuted in the MCU as part of the second season of “Daredevil”, before going on to appear in his own spin-off series. Jon also returned as “The Punisher” in the most recent “Daredevil: Born Again” Disney+ show and will be returning for the second season, which will be released next year, before “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hits cinemas on July 31st 2025.
Disney is also set to release a new standalone “Special Presentation” featuring Jon Bernthal as “The Punisher” on Disney+ later in 2026, so it’ll be interesting to see if that ties into the new movie or not.
Jon already has a good relationship with Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, as the pair helped one another with their Marvel audition tapes. This happened when they worked together in 2017 on “Pilgrimage”
“We did a film about seven or eight years ago. That was where both Tom did his audition for Spider-Man and I did my audition for Punisher. We actually made each other’s audition tapes on that film.”
Other characters returning for the upcoming fourth instalment in the “Spider-Man” franchise will be Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who will return as MJ and Ned. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Sadie Sink had joined the film in an undisclosed role.
It’s still too early to tell how much “The Punisher” is going to be in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, as it could just be a small cameo like Matt Murdock was, or it could be a significant character throughout the film, which is also expected to feature The Hulk.
While we wait for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, you can see “The Punisher” in various shows on Disney+, including “Daredevil” and “The Punisher”.
