“The Mandalorian” Disney+ Series Has No Ending Planned
We are just days away from the return of “The Mandalorian” on Disney+, which will see the journey through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
Recently, the showrunner/executive producer, Jon Favreau, spoke with BFM TV. and confirmed that he has already written the fourth season of “The Mandalorian” and how they all interconnect with other Disney+ series “Ahsoka” and “Skeleton Crew.”
“Season 4, yeah I’ve written it already. We have to know where we’re going to tell a fully formed story. We had mapped it out, Dave [Filoni] and I, and slowly you start to write each episode. I was writing it during post-production. All of it has to feel like a continuation and one full story.”
He also explained during a recent interview with Total Film magazine , the showrunner/executive producer, Jon Favreau, was asked about the show returning for a fourth season and if we are nearing the endpoint of the show, to which he replied:
No, I don’t – I think the beauty of this is that it’s a middle chapter of a much larger story. And though we’ll have resolution over time with these characters, I think that how these characters fit into the larger scope and scale, but it’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind. Quite the contrary, I love for these stories to go on and on. And so these characters potentially could be with us for a while, and I really love telling stories in their voice, and I love the way the adventures unfold and I’m looking forward to doing much more.
With the success of the first two seasons of “The Mandalorian”, it’s not surprising to see that Disney and Jon aren’t in a rush to end the story, since the characters are so popular and as we’ve seen with other characters in the Star Wars universe, nobodies story is really complete.
The directors of the eight-episode Season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey and Bryce Dallas Howard. The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito.
Also executive producing the series is Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are co-executive producers.
The first two seasons of “The Mandalorian” are available to stream now on Disney+, and the third season returns with the first episode on Wednesday, 1st March 2023.
