Maximus and Pascal go on a mission to save Flynn Ryder’s and Rapunzel’s wedding rings in the 2012 animated short, “Tangled Ever After.” This short was released as a follow-up to the hit film, “Tangled.” During the wedding, Maximus, as the ring bearer, sneezes and loses the wedding rings, so Pascal joins the horse as the pair go on an adventure trying to find the wedding rings and return to the ceremony before anyone notices they are gone. They are successful but accidentally destroy the cake in the process.

This is a fun little short that continues the story from “Tangled.” The film made it clear that Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene would get married at some point, just not right away, unlike previous Disney outings. This short allowed fans of the film to see the wedding down the line and get a new adventure featuring two of the best supporting characters from the film. Personally, I think this works better as a follow up than a second film would have. I haven’t seen the series, so I can’t speak for it, but I enjoyed this short.

If I have one complaint, it’s that it’s not long enough. I think this could’ve worked as a full fledged 30 minute special rather than just a few minute short. Whether the writers thought they had enough for that, I don’t know, but I think there’s more they could do to make a wedding feature a little longer. It probably would’ve incorporated more characters throughout the majority of it than just Maximus and Pascal and maybe that’s why they only made a short since neither of them spoke, but I think it would’ve been interesting.

Do I want to see more shorts featuring the characters of “Tangled?” Probably not. It’s not because they couldn’t carry them, because this short proved the could. It’s because they already got a series and if I want to see more continued adventures from them, I can just go watch the series. Still, if you like a short trip to their magical land, give this short a chance.
