On May 4th, Disney+ will debut a new series aimed at younger “Star Wars” fans. The Young Jedi Adventures follows a group of four young Jedi as they go on adventures, as the name suggests. Ahead of that series premiere, Disney+ has unveiled a series of six shorts to serve as a teaser for the series.

These shorts look like a lot of fun for kids. They demonstrate the younglings as they battle a training droid, search for a special flower, rescue a friend’s droid, track down an adorable creature, outrun pirates and then stop those same pirates. These are all things that, in more serious situations, will be missions of Jedi throughout “Star Wars,” so it’s good to give young Jedi missions for the kids to appreciate.

The animation on this series looks like it will be very appealing for kids. It’s bright and the shapes are clear. It’s well drawn and clearly stands out, especially when Yoda shows up in these shorts. He is the connective tissue that helps young viewers understand the bigger “Star Wars” connection. He looks very similar to his animation in “The Clone Wars,” but he’s drawn brighter and clearer.

These shorts, and the future series, will not appeal to everyone. This is not “Andor” targeting the diehard “Star Wars” fan. This isn’t “The Mandalorian” targeting casual “Star Wars” fans. This is a kids show. This is a lot like the “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” show. But, for its audience, it’s a winner.
