The Bad Batch finally get to experience what it’s like to have a home in episode 13 of season two of the Lucasfilm and Disney+ Original Series, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” After the Bad Batch keeps Phee alive during an interaction with a group of ruthless mercenaries, she is looking after Omega’s wellbeing as Phee recognizes they could all use a place to go, especially as they begin their breakup with Cid.

While this episode definitely feels like filler, it does establish some important factors for the Bad Batch. This season has been moving toward a falling out with Cid, and the Bad Batch were always going to need somewhere else to go before they could sever that relationship. Phee is one of the few characters we’ve met that works well with the Bad Batch, so it makes sense that she would be the one to show them a new place to live as they continue their mission to help the Clones who are being replaced by stormtroopers.

During their visit to Phee’s home world of Pabu, a storm surge creates a massive wave that damages the community. But, with the help of the Bad Batch, all of the people living there are able to survive. This inspires the Bad Batch to stick around and offer their services to help with the rebuild. It’s the first inkling that the Bad Batch are about to have a true home rather than just a place to stay. Plus, Omega finally meets someone else her own age to interact with, which is a good sign for her development.

This season is heading to the inevitable kidnapping of Omega to make sure Nala Se continues the Empire’s cloning program even if the Clones are no longer troopers. It makes me wonder what’s going to happen to the people of Pabu. Will the Empire ransack the planet to kidnap Omega, or will she be captured on one of the Bad Batch’s missions?

This is far from my favorite episode, but there’s a lot to love here as the story continues to build. There is some definite character development for both Phee and Omega that will help improve both of their story arcs. Hunter and Tech are also growing, given their reactions towards the end of this episode. I am excited to see what happens next, but I’m also hopeful the next episode has a little more punch to it, both literally and figuratively.
