Disney has released a new preview video for the upcoming Japanese anime series, “Phoenix: Eden17”, which is an adaptation of the Nostalgia story of Tezuka Osamu‘s life work “Phoenix” and is being produced by STUDIO4℃.  The new trailer also shows some behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show.

The brand new anime series follows a woman called Romi and her partner, as they depart from the devastated Earth and head for a new life on the planet Eden17. However, life has already been made extinct on the new world, so Romi finds herself eking out an even harsher life there.

It was also announced that Shôjirô Nishimi would be directing the show.  He has previously worked on “Mutafukaz ” and “Batman: Gotham Knight”.    It was also revealed that Tatsuzou Nishida is the chief animation director, and Shinji Kimura is the art director.  Along with revealing that Akiko Saito is the technical line director and CGI director, with Kengo Shigemura editing the series.

Disney has confirmed that the film will be released as a Star Original on Disney+ globally, so we should also expect to see the show released on Hulu in the United States.  However, currently, no release date has been announced.
