Earlier this year, it was reported that Marvel Studios was developing a live-action project featuring Nova, but it wasn’t known if it would be a feature film or a Disney+ series.

But now, some new details have been revealed by The Cosmic Circus, who are reporting that “Nova” will be a Special Presentation on Disney+.  They weren’t able to confirm when the special will arrive on Disney+, as the project is still in its writing stage.  And as we’ve seen with some previous projects, things can change during the writing process, such as with “Armor Wars” being changed from a Disney+ series to a theatrical movie release.

Disney introduced the Marvel Studios Special Presentation format earlier this month with “Werewolf By Night”, which is a single extended episode, but not quite a movie.  This keeps the costs of production down, plus filming can be completed within a few weeks.  Plus, it also spreads out the Marvel content more.

One thing that Phase 4 has had some criticism for, is that there have been lots of series and movies, which haven’t all hit in the same way.  Using Special Presentations, allows Marvel more freedom to tell shorter stories, that don’t warrant a movie or series.

Marvel Studios hasn’t announced any details on “Nova”, such as what the plot of the new Disney+ Special is going to be. With the new shorter format, it makes guessing what the story will be, will it be an origin, or just a spin-off adventure.   It’s also expected that some of the recently reported Marvel projects that haven’t been officially announced, could also be shifted from a Disney+ series, to a Special Presentation.

Would you rather “Nova” as a special, series or film?
