New Swedish Disney+ Original “Whiskey On The Rocks” Coming Soon
Filming has recently wrapped in Karlskrona, Sweden, on a new Swedish Disney+ Original series called “Whiskey on the Rocks”, which tells the true-life story of the dramatic events that unfolded in the Blekinge archipelago in 1981 when a Russian submarine U-137 ran aground, and the world was on the brink of a new world war.
This upcoming series will consist of six 30-minute episodes and will star Rolf Lassgård, who is playing Swedish Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin. Anders Mossling (“Spelskandalen”) will play the role of Minister of Foreign Affairs Ola Ullsten. Niklas Engdahl (“Bonusfamiljen”) will play the Swedish Chief of Defence Björn Lagercrantz and Filip Berg (“Familjen Andersson”) will play Håkan Martinsson.
While Per Lasson (“The Thin Blue Line”), will play the role of Anders Karlsson and Katrin Sundberg (“Maria Wern”), will be playing the Prime Minister’s Secretary Barbro Hultén.
Also starring in the series will be Kęstutis Stasys as Leonid Brezjnev and Mark Noble as Ronald Reagan. Other cast include Elsa Saisio (”Stygga Pojkar”), Cissi von der Esch (”Fullt hus”), Per Ragnar (”Max Anger”) and Anton Lundqvist (”Kenny Starfighter”).
It is being produced by Jan Marnell and executive produced by Nebout, Jansson-Schweizer, Magnus Bimberg for Skyverse Nordic, Sonja Hermele and Anna Croneman for SVT, and Nanna Mailand-Mercado for Disney+.
“Whiskey On The Rocks” is based on a story by Jonas Jonasson, who is best known for his best-selling novel ‘The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared’.
This new series will premiere in December 2024 on the Swedish broadcaster, SVT, and it will be released on Disney+ globally at a later date.
