This summer, Disney is bringing “The Haunted Mansion” is cinemas around the world, which the classic theme park attraction has inspired. The film is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Justin Simien, the film features an all-star ensemble cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Dan Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.

Entertainment Weekly has released a first look at Jamie Lee Curtis playing the infamous, Madame Leota, who is one of the 999 ghosts found within the Haunted Mansion.

The director revealed that the Oscar-winning actress’ take on the beloved medium Madame Leota is “a little subversive” and “a little funny” in its translation from park to screen. Though, it also packs “the gravitas you’d expect” from the legendary conduit between the realm of the living and the spirit world beyond.

Disney announced that Jamie Lee Curtis would appear in the film during the Walt Disney Studios showcase panel at the D23 Expo, where the actor was brought out onto the stage in a doom buggy, which is the mode of transport that guests visiting the attraction travel in.

“The Haunted Mansion” is coming to cinemas in the United States on July 28th, 2023, and we should expect to see the film on Disney+ later this year.
