Bandai Namco announced at the AnimeJapan 2024 event that a brand new anime series called “Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture” will be available on Disney+ worldwide as a Star Original.

The story follows two mercenary brothers from what was once Hokkaido in Year 7 of the Kowa era: Ash, the elder with high athletic and Knightmare piloting abilities, and Rozé, the younger with a knack for collecting intelligence and leadership, who embark on a quest to recapture Empress Sakuya from the clutches of the Neo Britannian Empire.

The cast for the series has been announced, and it will include Kohei Amasaki and Makoto Furukawa.  Also starring in the series will be Reina Ueda, Kana Ichinose, Hiroki Yasumoto, Nao Toyama, Yumi Uchiyama and Hiroyuki Yoshino.

The new series has been directed by Yoshimitsu Ohashi and produced by Hiroshi Morotomi, Yoshitaka Kawaguchi, Takuo Minegishi & Atsushi Yukawa.  Noboru Kimura wrote the script based on the characters created by Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouchi.

“Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture” will premiere at 9 am on Sunday, 24th June, in Japan, with a global release on Disney+.  As with other Japanese Star Originals, I’d expect it to also be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.

The new series will consist of twelve episodes, and the entire series will be released in four parts in Japanese cinemas on May 10th, June 7th, July 5th, and August 2nd.

This is the latest anime series that Disney has picked up worldwide streaming rights for, with recent shows such as “The Fable”, “Undead Unluck”, “Sand Land: The Series”, and “Ishura”.
