The original “Malcolm in the Middle” saw young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, often difficult family. In these brand-new episodes, Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.
Returning for the new series is are some of the original cast members including Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, and Jane Kaczmarek as Lois.
It’s also been revealed that more original cast members are returning for the upcoming series, with Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield reprising their roles as Malcolm’s older brothers Francis and Reese.
Since the show came to a close, Christopher Masterson has starred in “That 70’s Show” and “Scary Movie 2“. While Justin Berfield has starred in “Sons of Tucson” and “Who’s Your Daddy?”.
However, it’s also been confirmed that Erik Per Sullivan will not be returning to play Malcolm’s younger brother, Dewey, as the actor quit acting in 2010. For the revival, Dewey will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, who has previously starred in “The Silencing”, “Spiral: From the Book of Saw”, and “Nightmare Alley”.
Also starring in the new series will be Anthony Timpano, who will play Malcolm’s youngest brother, Jamie, who was a toddler in the original series. Anthony has previously starred “Imperfect High” and “A Score to Settle”.
Vaughan Murrae has also joined the cast and will be playing the role of Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Kelly, who was revealed in the show’s season finale, when Lois, held up a positive pregnancy test. Kelly is described as self-sufficient, gets good grades and is already wiser than most of the family.

Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky (KatCo), Gail Berman and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann are executive producers. Ken Kwapis will direct all four episodes and executive produce. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye are co-executive producers. The limited series is produced by 20th Television and New Regency.
A premiere date for the new series will be announced at a later time, and while we wait, you can catch the original series on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
Roger’s Take: While I’m sure some fans are going to be disappointed that Erik isn’t returning for the revival, ultimately, since he has decided to quit acting, it’s his choice, and we should respect that, which is why I’m glad the character has been recast. I’m looking forward to seeing the other older brothers also returning, as this was one of the shows I watched so much and loved the relationship between all of the family members.
