Last year, Marvel Studios released its first animated series, “What If?” on Disney+, which flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways. Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles.

When “What If?” was originally released, it was confirmed that a second season was in development and would be coming soon, but now we’ve had confirmation that the second season will be coming later this week, as Disney has released a new production brief for its upcoming Marvel series  “Moon Knight”, which is due to arrive on Disney+ on March 30th.

“The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently the highest-grossing film franchise of all time. Feige is building on that success with a host of new series that streamed on Disney+ in 2021, including “WandaVision,” “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” “What If…?” and “Hawkeye.” Upcoming original series for 2022 include “Moon Knight,” Ms. Marvel,” “She-Hulk” and the second season of “What If…?.”

This news was then confirmed on social media by “What If?” Head Writer/EP A.C. Bradley:

See you later this year, kids! #Marvel #WhatIf

No release date has been confirmed for the second season of “What If?”, but it’s likely to be later in the year since there has been no promotion of the show since the second season of the fan-favorite animated series was confirmed at last year’s Disney+ Day.

After enlisting the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Infinity Ultron, The Watcher returns in Season 2 of What If…? to meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU’s ever-expanding Multiverse. The second season will be directed by Executive Producer Bryan Andrews and written by Executive Producer AC Bradley.

Also coming later this year is “Moon Knight”, “Ms Marvel” and “She-Hulk”, plus the unannounced “Werewolf By Night” Halloween special.

The first season of “What If?” is available on Disney+ now.

Are you looking forward to the return of “What If?”
