Earlier this year, the actor, William Hurt, sadly passed away due to prostate cancer.  He played Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in many films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including “The Incredible Hulk”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, “Captain America: Civil War“, and “Black Widow”.

Recently, at the San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that the big finale of the fifth phase of the MCU would be “Thunderbolts”, which will see a number of anti-heroes and villains join together.  The team will include Yelena Belova, The Winter Soldier, U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, Ghost, and more.   The film is due to hit cinemas on July 26th 2024.

Many fans believed that this team-up movie couldn’t include “Thunderbolt” Ross, following William Hurt’s passing, since Marvel has been vocal about not recasting Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa.

But as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, it has been starting to hit some issues with some actors not being able to continue playing the same role in multiple projects, either due to contracts, or, sadly, due to the actors passing away.

However, according to Slashfilm, Marvel Studios has apparently recast Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, which will see Harrison Ford take up the role.

According to The Hot Mic With John Rocha and Jeff Sneider show, Harrison Ford will make his first appearance in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order”, which will arrive in cinemas on May 3rd 2024.  The news wasn’t revealed at last month’s D23 Expo, because Lucasfilm film wanted the focus on the new Indiana Jones film.

Harrison Ford is no stranger to working on major Disney franchises, having starred as Han Solo in the Star Wars films, plus his work on the Indiana Jones films, which will see a fifth film hit cinemas next summer.

Marvel hasn’t officially made an announcement regarding Harrison Ford joining the MCU, so it’s worth treating this news as a rumour.

What do you think of Harrison Ford becoming Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross?
