Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” Director Teases Second Season
This past week, Disney released the final episode of Marvel Studios’ new series “Secret Invasion,” which is set in the present-day MCU. In the series, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
In a recent interview with the show’s director’s Ali Selim was asked by Variety if the last episode of “Secret Invasion” was a season finale or a series finale?
Oh, yeah, I would say “season” finale. Who knows, right?
When pressed about if he has heard about a second season, Ali replied:
I don’t know anything about Season 2. I think there’s some great threads that could be run down. But is there a Season 2? I have no idea.
So far, out of all the Marvel shows to arrive on Disney+, only “Loki” has got a second season. However, Marvel is planning on reducing the amount of content it creates, to save money, improve quality and reduce superhero fatigue. Even if “Secret Invasion” doesn’t get a second season, this series has set up characters and storylines for future exploration within the MCU, which are expected to be explored during “Captain America: Brave New World”, “Armor Wars” and the upcoming film, “The Marvels”.
Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion” stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.
Ali Selim directs the series and executive produces along with fellow executive producers Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet and Brian Tucker. Kyle Bradstreet is also the head writer, and Jennifer L. Booth, Allana Williams and Brant Englestein serve as co-executive producers.
“Secret Invasion” is available to stream now on Disney+.
