Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” Critics’ Initial Reactions
Following the premiere of the new Marvel Studios Disney+ Series “Secret Invasion” in Hollywood last night, critics have been revealing their initial reactions to the first two episodes in the six-part series, which arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday 21st June 2023.
In Marvel Studios’ new series “Secret Invasion,” set in the present-day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth, and together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
Here are some of the critic’s responses to the new Disney+ show:
In a suspenseful spin on the comic book genre, #Secretinvasion is a welcome addition to the Marvel Universe. Though at times a bit stiff in progression, the show's first two episodes have left me wanting more of this thrilling & darker story. I just can't wait to watch more! pic.twitter.com/SIeHOsbXmE

#SecretInvasion is easily the one of the best Disney+ MCU projects. Grounded with great action and clever writing, it reminds me a lot of the political thriller vibe that CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER had going on.
Oh, and Olivia Colman steals the show.

#SecretInvasion is definitely Marvel's most mature title for Disney+ yet. The language and writing knows the audience has grown up and flashes of violence keep it feeling realistic while emphasizing the stakes. The Skrull invasion feels grounded and tense. I'm digging it. pic.twitter.com/H5hibN88KU

Marvel's #SecretInvasion brilliantly gives fans a glimpse at what Earth is like when its Mightiest Heroes aren't around. A bit slow at first, it's nothing short of top-tier MCU. Nick Fury & company are great, but the paranoia is GREATER. Imagine John Carpenter's The Thing x 10. pic.twitter.com/FPYyo91HK4

#SecretInvasion caught my attention. The first 2 episodes are intriguing, engaging & full of enough twists &surprises to make you realize that everything u think you know about the show has been subterfuge by the studio. Oh & you don't know a mother fucking thing about Nick Fury. pic.twitter.com/DGiopd9DUM

#SecretInvasion doesn't reinvent the "old spy pulled back for one last job" story so much as stick it in the MCU. But at its best (based on 2 eps) the series leans into Mission Impossible with aliens, and has a massive moment at the end of each ep that will get fans talking. pic.twitter.com/tUIPqPmzh9

#SecretInvasion is the real deal. Well directed, shot, choreographed, & written. Sets up the main conflict & villain early on Winter Soldier, Civil War vibes. In terms of quality, feels like Marvel’s Andor. But 6 eps, so it moves faster, & has some massive WTF moments throughout. pic.twitter.com/WFIo32rEnP

With how incredible #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol3 is , I was slightly worried #SecretInvasion wouldn’t be able to give me that same peak #MCU rush
I did NOT need to worry, if this show stays THIS good and sticks the landing it’ll be up there with #Loki & #WandaVision as peak #MCU TV pic.twitter.com/13eaPzDRUN

At the forefront of #SecretInvasion, Talos and Nick Fury's partnership is perfect, both are incredible characters. Another shoutout goes to Olivia Colman, who absolutely kills it as her character Sonya.
Loving the overall vibe so far – I cannot wait to see the full story unfold! pic.twitter.com/OM7csojOTu
