Marvel’s Kevin Feige Compares Disney+ Shows To One-Shots
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) and spoke about the upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows.
Hi Kevin, have you considered reviving the “One Shots”? It was a great way to flesh out the MCU, and provide some insight into the “minor” characters in the universe.
I’m sure if there was one that centered on Luis recapping The Infinity Saga, it would be a hit!
Lastly, thanks for this last 10 years of cinema. It’s been truly amazing to have such quality films of my childhood heroes.
Which Kevin Feige replied:
Totally agree. The best thing about the One Shots is that we got to flesh out other characters. It’s tremendously exciting that we now have Disney+ series where we get to do that on a grand scale with many of the characters you know and love.
We did a special shoot of Luis recapping the entire 10-year history of the MCU for San Diego Comic-Con when we announced Michelle Pfeiffer playing Janet van Dyne. I’m sure it’s around somewhere…
Marvel used to release a short “One-Shots” on home video releases between 2011 and 2014 before stopping. And they helped provide more backstory for characters or events introduced in the films, with two of the “One-Shots” inspiring two MCU spin off series, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter.
Hopefully the previously released One-Shots will also be available on Disney+.
So using the Disney+ shows to give more detail on Marvel characters is going to be one of its major advantages of the new streaming service.
Kevin Feige was also asked about
“How much will the Disney+ shows weave into the films?”
To which he gave a simple answer:
“Totally and completely.”
Unlike the previous Marvel shows, where they were influenced by the events of the movies, the movies weren’t effected by the events of the shows, however this will change with the new Disney+ shows.
Are you excited for the new Marvel Disney+ shows?
