With Marvel films and shows suffering from a box office glut and ratings decline, due to an array of issues, including superhero fatigue, Disney wants its studios, including Marvel, to create less content, while improving the quality, since it believes studios like Marvel lost focus while making too many shows for Disney+ and balancing too many projects at once.

While the actor’s and writer’s strikes have caused some delays in production, Disney has reshuffled its release schedule for many of its films, including Marvel’s “Deadpool 3”, “Blade”, “Thunderbolts” and “Captain America: Brave New World”, to give them more time to be created.

Principle filming on the upcoming Marvel Studios’ film, “Captain America: Brave New World” was completed this summer before the actor’s strike began, Deadline has reported that Marvel has brought Matthew Orton in as a new writer to help with some reshoots, which are planned to begin in the spring.

It’s pretty normal for Marvel films and shows to go through reshoots, as they even schedule these in before they start filming, knowing they’ll be making some changes throughout production.

But with “Captain America: Brave New World” getting a seven-month delay, from July 26th 2024, to Valentine’s Day in 2025, they’ve got longer to put together the changes they need, work on post-production such as special effects etc, to get the film ready for its theatrical release.

Matthew Orton has previously worked on Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight”, in addition to working on “Operation Finale” and “Devil’s Peak.

“Captain America: Brave New World” is being directed by Julius Onah and has been written by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, who has previously worked on the Marvel Disney+ series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which saw Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America, following Steve Rogers handing him the shield at the end of “Avengers: Endgame”.

The upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World” film will see Harrison Ford take over the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who the late William Hurt previously played.   Other actors from “The Incredible Hulk”, Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson, will also reprise their roles.  Also starring in the film will be Shira Haas and Danny Ramirez.   Sebastian Stan will also be returning as The Winter Soldier.

No plot details have been announced for the upcoming film, but it will likely deal with how America handles Sam Wilson becoming the new Captain America and with multiple characters from “The Incredible Hulk” film, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some other big green characters appear.

While we wait for “Captain America: Brave New World”, you can watch the previous adventures of Sam Wilson in the “Captain America” films and the “Falcon And The Winter Soldier” series on Disney+.
