This Fall, Marvel Studios is releasing a new series, “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” on Disney+, which is a spin-off of the popular “WandaVision” series and sees Kathryn Hahn reprising her role of Agatha Harkness.

The show was announced during Disney+ Day in 2021, and over the past few years, the show has gone by the names “Agatha: Coven Of Chaos” and “Agatha: House Of Harkness”. Initially, the series was due to arrive on Disney+ at the end of 2023, but due to Marvel Studios hitting the slow-down button on their projects, it was pushed back to the fall of 2024.

Filming on “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” took place last summer and managed to complete initial filming before the actor’s strike began. However, as with most Marvel Studios projects, reshoots had been planned for earlier this year, and according to THR, Marvel had planned on doing five days of reshoots, but ended up only doing a single day of filming.

Apparently, according to sources, the fact that the show only needed a single day to pick up some additional filming and reshoot some scenes, has fueled a sunny outlook around the show internally.

The slow down in releases means there is only two live-action series being released on Disney+, “Echo” which was released in January and “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” in the fall, with “Deadpool and Wolverine” arriving in cinemas in July. Giving audiences time off between projects, which will hopefully help with the superhero fatigue.

Marvel is also releasing a couple of animated projects this year, including “X-Men ’97” and “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man”, but generally, animated series have a smaller audience, and these shows are also being released under the Marvel Animation banner, which is separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We don’t know too much about the upcoming “Agatha” series yet, but we do know that it will star Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata and Ali Ahn. The show will also star Emma Caulfield Ford, Maria Dizzia, Miles Gutierrez-Riley and Okwui Okpokwasili.

While we wait for the upcoming “Agatha” series, you can find “WandaVision” on Disney+ now.
