We have had a plethora of Marvel content in 2022. Movies, films, even holiday specials have made it onto our list. I’m going to rank every Marvel title to hit Disney+ this year. This ranking is completely subjective to my personal tastes. I will note this listing will not include the Netflix Defenders saga or any legacy content from Fox. I may rank those separately. But for now, let’s check them out.

9. THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

This film was just plain bad. I never thought I’d find a film that would make me long for “Iron Man 2” and “Thor: The Dark World,” but this one did it. Taika Waititi’s unusual sense of humor is on full display here, and it’s clear he needs someone to filter out his bad ideas to rein him in. This is my least favorite film or series from 2022, my least favorite film or series from 2022 and may be my least favorite Marvel film ever.

8. MS. MARVEL

This is my least favorite of the series that came out this year, and I still liked it a lot. I like that we got a teenage superhero. I like that the Muslim community got a superhero to represent them. I just really wasn’t the target audience for this series. I won’t be revisiting it, but I’m still excited to see Kamala Khan in other projects going forward.

7. ETERNALS

The first film from Marvel to hit Disney+ this year was a bit of a letdown. Honestly, it may be the best version of the Justice League we ever get if Warner Bros. doesn’t figure something out, but it’s a mid-tier Marvel movie. It’s not bad, it’s just kind of there. Falling between two superior efforts in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Spiderman: No Way Home” in the box office lineup didn’t help it.

6. SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW

The legal comedy is really fun and has found a way to bring in new, obscure Marvel characters while also bringing back some favorites from the beginning of the MCU. It was fun. It could be funny. But it was too hit and miss for my taste.

5. DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

Dr. Strange returns and has to fight Scarlett Witch in a battle across the multiverse. Benedict Cumberbatch was excellent, as he always is. Elizabeth Olsen has done a great full circle moment from villain to hero back to villain. The Illuminati scene was fun overall, even if it was also a letdown for me. I liked this movie, but I didn’t love it.

4. I AM GROOT

This series of animated shorts is a lot of fun. We get to see a lot of what Groot was like starting as a seedling all the way up to see him trying to draw pictures of the “Guardians of the Galaxy.” We need a wide range of shows and movies from Marvel and an animated series following Groot is an excellent addition.

3. THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL

This was the year of the Marvel special presentation and Marvel did a great job making them feel important. This was the funnier of the two but also the weaker of the two in my opinion. I loved how Mantis and Drax misunderstood Peter Quill’s love for Kevin Bacon and tried to give Quill the best present ever for Christmas, Kevin Bacon. This was a better use of the Guardians of the Galaxy than their short appearance in “Thor: Love and Thunder.”

2. WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

This was the better of the two Marvel special presentations in my opinion. I love the old time, schlocky, horror movie feel. Plus, it was a great way to introduce Werewolf By Night, Emma Bloodstone and Man-Thing.

1. MOON KNIGHT

This is an excellent series that came out of nowhere to be my favorite Marvel project of 2022. I knew nothing about this character and very little about this series when it was announced. The only thing I knew is I like Oscar Isaac as an actor, so I figured I would like his performance. We wound up with a series that kept my attention the entire time. Is it my favorite Marvel series on Disney+? No. But, in my opinion, it is the best of 2022.

That’s my rankings. It was a good year for Marvel. There was a wide variety. Not all of them were for everybody, but all of them appealed to somebody. That’s a good thing. How would you rank the 2022 Marvel content? What are you most excited for in 2023?
