Ever since Disney released “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was released in 2018, there have been many fans hoping that we might see a sequel either as a film or a Disney+ series, which would see Alden Ehrenreich return as a young Han Solo.

The film is an epic action-adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, beginning a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

However, due to the film’s box office failure, pulling in just under $400 million worldwide, there hasn’t been any news about a continuation of Han Solo’s story and during a recent interview with NME, the film’s director, Ron Howard, shared an update on a potential sequel.

“The only discussion that I’m aware of about a sequel for Solo is coming from the fans at this point. I don’t think it’s a Lucasfilm priority, as I understand it. But there’s some great characters launched, and the folks from Lucasfilm love the fans and really do listen so I would never say never – but I’m not aware of any concrete plans right now to extend the story or deal with that particular set of characters.”

With “Solo: A Star Wars Story” doing so badly at the box office, it’s not surprising that Disney hasn’t been in a rush to return to that era.   At the Disney Investor Day in 2020, a new series about Lando was announced, but since then, we’ve heard nothing about that project series since.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story” is available to stream now on Disney+
