Disney has announced that the animated short series “Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones” is coming to Disney+ on Friday 12th February 2021.

The short series has been created by Funko and was released to tie-in with a new tabletop game

This series will introduce children to a new plan by villain Thanos to trap Marvel heroes in Battleworld.

Last year, Chief Executive Officer of Funko, Brian Mariotti, said the following about the launch of “Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones”:

“We are thrilled that Marvel has chosen to expand the Funko collaboration to engage their younger fans with a new category of products and animation collaboration. Funko enters the toy aisle for the first time with a product offering of tremendous value. In addition to two micro-collectible characters inside the Battle Ball, the child can battle independently or team up with friends to defeat Thanos through gameplay. This kind of product assortment is both what kids want and what retailers are keen to offer parents.”

The shorts originally aired on YouTube and on the Disney XD and Marvel HQ channels.  The first season consists of 6 episodes.
