Later this year, Marvel Studios is experiencing with something a little different, when it releases “Guardians Of The Guardians: Holiday Special” on Disney+.

Very little is known about this new special, but we do know that the special has been written and directed by James Gunn.  The forty-minute special was filmed alongside the upcoming “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Volume 3” film, which will arrive in cinemas on May 5th 2022.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, revealed the outline for the next few years for the MCU, including saying that “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” would be the final step in the fourth phase.

This led Marvel fans to question where does the “Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” sit, leading James Gunn to take to social media to try to clear up the confusion. including saying:

The Guardians Holiday Special is the epilogue of Phase 4.

And while Marvel fans might think the placement of films and series within phases is known in advance, James Gunn revealed that:

I didn’t know Vol 3 was Phase 5 until the presentation at Comicon.

When asked if fans need to watch the new Holiday Special before the upcoming third volume hits screens, James Gunn said:

Absolutely; there’s a lot of big information in there.

Earlier this week, a new LEGO set was revealed for this series, featuring Minifigures of Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Starlord and Mantis.

Hopefully, at the upcoming Marvel Studios panel at the D23 Expo, we will get to see a sneak peek and get more details of this upcoming Disney+ special, which will be hitting our screens in December.

In the meantime, you can find both “Guardians Of The Galaxy” films available to stream on Disney+ now.

Are you looking forward to “Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special“?
