When the Hulu On Disney+ beta launched last December, it brought a huge number of films and shows from Hulu’s library over to Disney+ in the United States, bringing the streaming services closer together.

Late last month, Hulu On Disney+ came out of its beta mode with the full launch. However, during this time, not everything that was available within the Hulu app was showing up within Disney+. However, most of the Hulu content, such as content from Disney’s studios like Searchlight Pictures, ABC, and FX, was available within Disney+.  But, licensed content was much more hit-and-miss, but things have slowly been improving since the launch of the beta program, as Disney has likely been able to renegotiate deals to get access via Disney+.

It looks like things are starting to improve. Recently, the search function within Disney+ and more content from Hulu have started to show up, including content that is currently unavailable.

For example, WWE Raw and the hit comedy series, “Modern Family” are both available to stream on Hulu, but they weren’t available on Hulu On Disney+. But now, these shows are appearing on the Search tab at Disney+.

But while you might be able to see the shows within Disney+, when you try to watch them, you will be presented with an error message saying:

We’re sorry, but we cannot play the video you requested.  Please try again by selecting another profile.  If the problem persists, visit Disney+ Help Center (Error Code 43).

Hopefully, with this unavailable content showing up within Disney+ means at some point soon, this problem will no longer be an issue and everything available as part of a Hulu subscription will be available within Disney+, so you don’t need to flip between the two platforms.  This change to search could be an indication that these could be available within Hulu On Disney+ soon, since the videos and thumbnails are being uploaded to the system.

Eventually, I’m convinced Disney+ and Hulu will merge together, like we’ve seen with Max and Discovery+ and Paramount+ and Showtime, as part of a way of consolidating platforms to save money and offer subscribers a simple single platform.

With Hulu On Disney+ now no longer in beta mode, we are likely going to see more changes to the platform in the weeks, months and years ahead, as Disney+ continues to be upgraded to offer subscribers a better experience.

There is still plenty of additional content from Hulu, such as from add-on services like ESPN+, Starz, or Max, that isn’t available.

Do you think everything from Hulu will eventually be available within Disney+?  Let us know on social media!
