As we head into 2024, if you’re a Marvel fan, plenty of new shows and films are heading to Disney+ throughout the year, featuring our favourite superheroes, including Spider-Man, Deadpool and the X-Men.

While Disney has said they are cutting back on how much Marvel content is released in 2024, due to the impact the actor’s and writer’s strikes had on production, but also to help reduce superhero fatigue from releasing too many shows and films.  Disney is trying to reduce costs and allow Marvel Studios to focus on fewer projects at once, to provide better quality for us to enjoy.

Here’s a look at the Marvel projects we can look forward to watching on Disney+ in 2024:

Echo – January 2024

Kicking things off in January is the brand new original five-episode series, “Echo”, which spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.  This series is a big departure from the typical Disney+ series, since it’s being dropped all at once and is rated mature, more in line with how we’ve seen Kingpin and Daredevil in the past.

All five episodes will be released on Hulu and Disney+ at once on Tuesday, 9th January 2024, at 6 pm PT/9 pm ET.

The Marvels – Early 2024

The latest Marvel Studios theatrical release was “The Marvels”, which sees Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, reclaim her identity from the tyrannical Kree and take revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau.

With the film currently still in its theatrical exclusive window, it’s unlikely we will see “The Marvels” arrive on Disney+ until at least ninety days past the original release in November.  So expect to see “The Marvels” arrive on Disney+ in February or March 2024

Deadpool 3

The third “Deadpool” film is currently filming in the UK and will see Ryan Reynolds return as the Merc With The Mouth and he won’t be alone as finally, we will see the combo of Wolverine and Deadpool together, as Hugh Jackman returns for an epic multiverse adventure.  The film is due to arrive in cinemas on July 26th 2024. Since this film is likely to be very popular at the box office, Disney might hold onto it a little longer than the traditional ninety-day exclusive window, so I think we will see “Deadpool 3” dropping onto Disney+ in time for Christmas!

X-Men ’97 – Early 2024

This new ten-episode animated series will explore new stories in the iconic 90s timeline of the original series, featuring beloved characters like Professor X, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Rogue, Storm, Gambit, Magneto, Nightcrawler and many more.

No exact release date has been announced, but it currently looks like it will arrive in early 2024 as originally. It was supposed to come out in late 2023, but was delayed.  Work is also underway on the second season of the show.   While we wait, the original 90s animated series is also available to stream on Disney+.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries – Fall 2024

Marvel fans can also look forward to the highly anticipated “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” live-action series, which is a spin-off of the “WandaVision” Disney+ series and will see Kathryn Hahn reprising her fan-favourite role of Westview’s resident Darkhold reader, Agatha. Unfortunately, no other details about what this series is about has been revealed yet.

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man – Fall 2024

This original animated series, follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, starting with his freshman year of high school of course. Peter’s journey in the series will be unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.  Also set to star in this series is Charlie Cox, once again reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.

The series will feature many well-known villains, including Norman Osborn plus Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, the Rhino, Butane, Carmela Black, and Otto Octavius.

The series was originally called “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”, but was renamed “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man”.

Eyes On Wakanda

One series we don’t know too much about is “Eyes On Wakanda”, a new animated series coming in 2024 which tells the stories of what’s happened throughout Wakandan history, as we learn about the story of the brave warriors who have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artefacts.

Spidey And His Amazing Friends – Season 3 – January 2024

Marvel’s “Spidey and his Amazing Friends” follows the adventures of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales as they team up with Super Heroes to defeat foes and learn that teamwork is the best way to save the day.  The third season of the show continues the “Web-Spinners” storyline from earlier this year. It will also introduce a new “Dino-Webs” story arc, and a whole new set of heroes and baddies for the Spidey Team to interact with, including White Tiger (voiced by Kylie Cantrall), Lizard (voiced by Bumper Robinson), and Trapster (voiced by Deva Marie Gregory).

The third season’s first episode will premiere on Disney Channel at 8:30 a.m. ET and Disney Junior at 1:00 p.m. ET. Additionally, an initial batch of episodes will roll out on Disney+ shortly thereafter

Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur – Season 2

In Season 2, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are in their element as Super Heroes; however, as Moon Girl’s Super Hero-ing intertwines more with her personal life, she must decide if the cost of keeping her identity a secret is worth the toll it takes on her family.

The new season debuts on Disney+ in the United States on February 3rd 2024.

Assembled

Disney loves its behind-the-scenes special documentaries, as with previous years, we should expect to see plenty of new “Assembled” episodes dropping throughout 2024.  “Assembled” is a comprehensive documentary series streaming on Disney+ that chronicles the creation of Marvel Studios’ thrilling new shows and theatrical releases. Journey behind-the-scenes of productions via exclusive on-set footage. “Assembled” is an immersive, and in-depth examination of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

New specials are usually a month or so after the initial project was released on Disney+.    The first one, for “Echo”, has already been announced to arrive on Disney+ on Wednesday 31st January 2024.
