Emilia Clarke’s Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” Disney+ Series Character Revealed
Later this summer, Marvel Studios is releasing its next Disney+ series, “Secret Invasion”, which stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in “Captain Marvel.” The crossover event series showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
“Secret Invasion” will also star Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, plus Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. The series will be written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet , who has previously worked on “Mr Robot”. The six-episode series is going to be directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim. The events of “Secret Invasion” will also help set up the upcoming Marvel film, “Armor Wars”, as Don Cheadle will be returning for “Secret Invasion” as Colonel James Rhodes, aka War Machine.
The series was previously announced to be coming to Disney+ in Spring 2023, and recently, the placeholder page on Disney+ stated a release date of 21st June 2023, but that was quickly removed from the streaming service.
Vanity Fair has released ten brand-new images from the upcoming Disney+ show and revealed some new details on the show, including confirmation of what character Emilia Clarke will be playing, a Skrull radical called G’iah (pronounced “Guy-ah”), who has issues with Talos that go far deeper than most as the character has previously appeared in “Captain Marvel”, where we saw Talos family on aboard a space station orbiting Earth. Samuel Jackson revealed:
“Remember when Ben was there with his wife and daughter?. She’s the little Skrull girl grown up. She’s his daughter.”
Emilia Clarke revealed some details about her character, who has been growing up in the shadow of a powerful parent, which makes her situation even direr.
“It’s hardened her for sure. There’s a kind of punk feeling that you get from this girl. She’s a refugee kid who’s had Talos for a dad, you know what I mean? Maybe the fact that we didn’t know he had a kid up until this point tells you everything you need to know about their relationship.”
She also revealed how she is pretty much over her dad’s friend Fury and his fellow human beings.
“These people promised a lot of stuff a long time ago, and not a lot has happened. So understandably, a certain amount of resentment has been built. There’s a lot of emotions that live within her, and there’s a lot of confrontational aspects to her character that have come from circumstance. You understand why she has the feelings that she does.”
