Disney will once again be returning to New York for an upfront event, which will be held at the North Javits Center on May 16th.

The Upfront Event is an annual tradition, which sees Disney putting on a lavish event to woo advertisers to the television linear networks and streaming platforms to buy advertising for the new and existing shows for the upcoming fall/winter season. ABC has been doing annual events since the 1960s.

During the events, usually, we get to find out a little bit of information on upcoming shows and possible trailers. In some instances, these trailers are sometimes released before the event to the public to drum up the excitement to increase ad sales. The upfront events aren’t usually broadcast to the general public.

Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event. He has previously hosted the event and, unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions last year, was forced to do the show from home. Ad chief Rita Ferro will be attending, and it’ll likely also feature Disney CEO, Bob Iger.

Many other studios, including Netflix and YouTube, will also be holding their own upfront event, though some studios such as CBS/Paramount have cut the event due to costs. Other studios have adjusted plans to hold a joint event earlier in the month.
